Wow the gossip mills are working overtime with the rumors about bonny Prince Harry and suspicions about his potentially asking for the hand of Cressida Bonas. Will he or won’t he?
We won’t be sure until they let us be sure, but what there is no question about is the prince’s lifelong dedication to charitable causes. He comes by it honestly and his generation of royals are loud advocates of service work and volunteering. One of the many foundations and organizations to which Harry lends his name–and with this group, also lends his passion and hard work–is Sentebale (a Sesotho word meaning “Forget me not”). Harry is often paired, in conversation and thought, with his brother, Prince William, and indeed the two together have a tremendous charitable impact on the world. With Sentebale, however, he has formed another princely dynamic duo, with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho. The charity focuses on serving orphaned children in Lesotho, with particular emphasis on those orphaned by the AIDS pandemic. The two princes formed the charity in honor of their mothers, who have both passed, to continue the lineage of giving they’ve inherited. They work with local, grassroots organizations to help build life skills along with the essential building blocks of nutrition, healthcare, and education, so the most vulnerable can excel.
Long-term goals include extending what is proving a great working model to other Southern Africa regions facing the direst challenges, and there is a foreseeable future (though not current need) for volunteers to aid in the hard work.
