I have to say, I truly relish the opportunities taken when creative souls take the venom and vitriol from tiny-minded, ignorant, hateful people, and turn the situation completely around. If the vicious voices are exposed for the clowns they are, all the better. Comic Lisa Lampanelli, who I have long loved for her bawdy, no holds barred, equal opportunity offender act, recently made complete asses of the already idiotic Westboro Baptist Church. Fred Phelps and his misguided followers, in between picketing the funerals of military heroes and victims of natural disasters (yes, they have the charred soul gall to demonstrate their hate at funerals of children and those killed by recent tornadoes), decided to picket outside Lampanelli’s show in Topeka, Kansas. In a brilliant reversal, the comic announced she would donate $1,000 for every one of the rabidly anti-gay hate mongers to Gay Men’s Health Crisis. 48 Westboro fools showed up, so Lampanelli rounded it up to fifty thousand dollars.

Thanks Westboro–you accidentally did some good while being mocked.
