Ocean Voices–Record Your Voice for Conservation

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do….Mimimimimimimi…

I’m doing vocal warmups so I’ll be in good voice to record my part on Ocean Voices. This online, crowd-sourced gathering of voices from around the world speaking of the ocean, created by sound artist Halsey Burgund and marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols, takes recordings from us (yes, you too) and sets them to music to create a global audio collage. It is an easy way to literally lend your voice to a worldwide conservation and awareness project. You are prompted by your choice of question (there are seven choices, from “What does it feel like to be in the ocean?” to “How do oceanic oil spills make you feel and why?”) and you simply record, via your computer’s microphone, your personal response. It will be added to the rest of the voices from across the globe (as of this morning, more than 1,200 people have contributed). It will even be presented as part of a full-day May program of oceanic art/performance, presented by Celine Cousteau, called Ocean Inspiration 100 Years.

Are you ready? Speak up!
